Magnetic Jewellery (Jewelry) Clasps

Jewellery clasps what are they?

They are "normal" clasps they you find to fasten your necklaces and bracelets but with the addition of a magnet.

The were invented in the 1990s by Erich Langer.

The addition of a magnet means necklaces and bracelets can be put on and removed with just one hand.

It comes into its own when your hands lack the dexterity, movement or mobility in the fingers and thumbs due to an accident or chronic conditions such as arthritis to clasp and unclasp jewellery, or if you are blind or partially blind, magnetic clasps make it easy. Jewellery clasps have also found other uses, for example turning ordinary chandeliers into "crystal" chandeliers, or crystal fridge magnets, the list is endless.
