Magnetic Jewellery (Jewelry) Clasps
Updated: May 11, 2022

Jewellery clasps what are they?
They are "normal" clasps they you find to fasten your necklaces and bracelets but with the addition of a magnet.
The were invented in the 1990s by Erich Langer.
The addition of a magnet means necklaces and bracelets can be put on and removed with just one hand.
It comes into its own when your hands lack the dexterity, movement or mobility in the fingers and thumbs due to an accident or chronic conditions such as arthritis to clasp and unclasp jewellery, or if you are blind or partially blind, magnetic clasps make it easy. Take a look at this video from K&J which illustrates this beautifully.
Jewellery clasps have also found other uses, for example turning ordinary chandeliers into "crystal" chandeliers, or crystal fridge magnets, the list is endless.
Jewellery Clasp has also been turned into a jazzy necklace layer accessory!
AND the results are a visual delight, allowing you to open up that jewellery box and giving old chains and necklaces lying quiet in a dark corner of the jewellery box a new lease of life.
Where jewellery is concerned, magnetic clasps (in line with arts and crafts principles) are functional and beautiful.
Enjoy!!

AS AMAZING AS THESE CLASPS ARE, IF YOU HAVE A PACEMAKER YOU CANNOT USE MAGNETIC CLASPS.
