Jane's Journals - Zoom Yoga and Writing

I usually start training for the Parish Walk about now as the early May nights get lighter and the weather better. It is usually the Harbour to Harbour walk that makes me feel like I need to be a bit fitter. I usually do intensive hot yoga for at least a month to build stamina and get my breathing and reaction to pressure under good control.

That has not been possible due to the lockdown but I have instead set myself up at home for Zoom yoga.

I have particularly loved Soul Sunday with Dee Stockman which includes gentle Yin yoga and poetry.

This partly inspired a poem I wrote at a Zoom workshop about nature, people and our current global context.

We have everything we need

I watched you with loving pride

Perfect alignment.

I gave as you took.

Balance broken.

Your waste discarded in my beauty.

Tiny shoots

spread joy

Under a paintbrush sky.

Deep wisdom

Unfurls potential.

Yoga has certainly made me strong and my legs feel incredibly powerful when walking up hills at the moment. It is amazing how effective home exercise at home can be when paired with healthy eating. I am ready for the Parish Walk now even though it is cancelled. My plan is to the maintain fitness until September for the End to End instead.
