DAY 8 - Lockdown Experiment for 50 Year Old - Menopause and Hair

Updated: May 9

Getting up to day 4 was not too bad and I thought it would be OK to focus on the 3 things in the days ahead but on Day 8, I failed miserably on all counts... Menopause!!!

I was a bit too confident and dismissed the impact of hot flushes on my body and therefore my sleep. Oh yes I was feeling it proper!! I have been blessed with the ability to fall asleep whenever and wherever but for the first time I was waking up in the night due to hot flushes and staying awake for awhile...this played havoc in the daytime making me feel fuzzy, lack of energy...etc...

Being an Ayurvedic Practitioner, I know of compounds and simple changes in my food and fluid intake to mitigate the effects of hot flushes. I have worked out what I need to do and I have put this into action today.*1

A confession, many friends have described the impact of menopause in their lives and whilst I understood and got what they were saying, it is only now ACTUALLY EXPERIENCING IT first hand that I know TOTALLY what it is really feels like. I am fortunate to be taking advantage of my Ayuvdic knowledge to mitigate symptoms of menopause.

The thing I have found over the duration of the lockdown is my hair...it is greyer but it is longer and thicker too...like being pre-pregnant 34 and thick!!!

Is it a side effect of menopause, or my treatment of my head with rosewater and oiling who knows....so during next week, the natural colour grey coverage hair product has arrived and so lets see what this bring on...

*1 - if want to know more about Ayurveda's approach to menopause and its compounds, you are very welcome to contact me.
