Spring Detox and Moon Cycles
It is Friday and spring is heading towards its first April weekend and its the first day of a new Moon.
The Moon has always been fascinating for me, even today on my mobile I have an app which tells me the waxing and waning of the Moon phases.
The lunar cycle is twenty-nine and a half days, and it has played and continues to play a major role a in many cultures around the world. Ayurveda definitely has much to say on the cycles of the moon and its impact on the way your body works!
From "the best time to plant or harvest, to having a better understanding of melatonin release" (Banyon Botanicals) to how your sleep patterns are affected by the Moon cycles, there is still much to learn of which much more next week.
But today, on the first day of the new Moon, take a handful of any or all of the following ingredients:
baby new spinach
baby green kale
bok choy (Chinese cabbage)
any other leafy greens
Put your leafy greens in a blender, add a cup of water, a small piece of fresh ginger, a squeeze of lime or lemon and blitz it together.
Make up to quarter litre (250 ml) which will give you 5 shot glasses worth (approx 50 ml) and take a shot glass every day at the time of day that best suits you for the next 15 days.
Lets see how you feel on day 15, when its full Moon.
