Happy Mother's Day
Updated: Apr 28
So it is the evening of the last day of March and its Mother's Day....there are families and friends coming together taking their mothers, grandmothers, aunts, anyone who plays the part of "mother" out for lunch or celebrating with a box of chocolates or flowers being sent to that special mother figure in their lives.
I was curious and looked back into Vedic culture as to how the role of mother was seen way back a few thousand years ago.
Vedic culture taught all its people, both male and female of the importance and the space a woman occupies in human society, whatever role, sister, friend, daughter, wife, mother she is the epitomy of "love and respect".
Of all these roles the role of mother comes to the top everyday of the week because it is this role that brings forth the infinite quiet, gentle love and affection without which life would be but a mere existence!
According to an ancient text from way back in the past it is said:
"From the point of view of reverence due, a teacher is ten fold superior to a mere lecturer, a father is a hundred fold superior to a teacher, and a mother is a thousand fold superior to a father."
You enjoyed mother's day with your mother yesterday, enjoy it today and all these other days to come in the rest of 2019!
